Two 3-year-olds by Gainesway stallions are expected in the starting gate when they line up for the $1,000,000 IZOD Haskell Invitational (G1) on August 1.

Both Trappe Shot (by Tapit) and Afleet Again (by Afleet Alex) have accepted invitations to the prestigious mid-summer event over 1 1/8 miles on the Jersey Shore.

Sporting a record of four wins in five starts, Trappe Shot has set the racing world on its edge with his scintillating performances this season. The handsome chestnut has now reeled off four consecutive wins by 29 1/2 combined lengths, including the $175,000 Long Branch Stakes over this very Monmouth surface in his last start. Bred by Hobeau Farm, Trappe Shot sold for $850,000 as a two-year-old in training, and races for Mill House and trainer Kiaran McLaughlin.

Afleet Again is already a Graded stakes winner this year, having taken the Withers Stakes (G3) earlier in the season at Aqueduct. The gray/roan colt also completed the Afleet Alex exacta in the Pegasus S. (G3) on June 19, when second to Afleet Express over the Monmouth main track. Afleet Again has compiled a record of 12-3-2-3 and $227,950 in two seasons.

Also expected for the Haskell are Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Super Saver, Preakness (G1) winner Looking At Lucky, Derby (G1) runner-up Ice Box, and Preakness runner-up First Dude. Post time will be 6:00.
