Two new G3 2YOs for Mr. Greeley

Friday, July 23, 2010 |
In just over a week’s time, Mr. Greeley sired two new impressive 2-year-old Group stakes horses in Europe.

First to strike was Laughing Lashes, who ran second by a length in the Silver Flash S. (G3) at Leopardstown, Ireland on July 15th. Laughing Lashes was making just her second career start, and carried 124 lbs. in the seven-furlong stakes. The gray/roan filly out of Adventure, by Unbridled’s Song, was bred in Kentucky by Runnymede Farm and Robert P. Levy, and sold for $100,000 at last fall’s Keeneland September Sale. She races for McElroy Syndicate.

On July 22nd, Michael Tabor et al’s High Ruler carried 127 lbs. to a runner-up finish in the Tyros S. (G3), also at Leopardstown. Making his stakes debut, the son of Epsom Oaks (G1) winner Lady Carla (GB) ran second to stablemate Zoffany (Ire), who was already a stakes winner. Bred by Southern Bloodstock, High Ruler is trained by Aidan O’Brien, and races for Michael Tabor, Susan Magnier, & Derrick Smith.

Mr. Greeley has now sired 104 stakes horses, 50 stakes winners, and earners of well over $48.7 million.
