Undefeated Gainesway grad wins Hollywood Prevue (G3)

Tuesday, November 15, 2011 |

So Brilliant lived up to his name, with a thrilling gate-to-wire victory in the Hollywood Prevue S. (G3) on Thanksgiving Day.

Under Martin Garcia, So Brilliant broke inwardly, but seized command between rivals in a matter of strides. Despite repeated challenges, So Brilliant kept finding more, and crossed under the wire a half length in front, with a sparkling 1:22 4/5 for the seven furlongs. The two-year-old son of Medaglia d’Oro was winning for the second time in a month, having broken his maiden in a flashy 1:09.02 on October 22 at Santa Anita.

Gainesway sold So Brilliant at the 2009 Keeneland November Sale for $190,000. Bred in Kentucky by Stonewall Farm Stallions LLC, he races for Arnold Zetcher, and is trained by Hall of Famer Bob Baffert.
