Utterly Cool, a two-year-old son of Smoke Glacken, became his sire’s 38th stakes winner on October 26 when he drew off to a 10 ¼-length win in the $250,000 Cup and Saucer Stakes at Woodbine. After stalking the early pace, Utterly Cool took command midway through the turn and drew off to his easy victory in 1:44 3/5 for the 1 1/16-miles on the turf.

Utterly Cool was a five-length winner of his first start in August at Woodbine, and he followed that with a 7 ½-length allowance win before running fourth in the Summer Stakes. The Cup and Saucer, which was his fourth start and third win, raised his career earnings to $222,863 for his trainer Sid Attard and owner/breeder Mel Lawson, who races as Jim Dandy Stable.
