Fresh off her near-stakes record victory in the Spring Fever Stakes, One Smokin’ Lady ran a bang-up second in the $60,000 Carousel S. at Oaklawn Park on March 27.

Under co-highweight of 122 lbs., the daughter of Smoke Glacken battled gamely from the break, and was passed in the stretch by Palanka City, a previous Graded stakes winner. One Smokin’ Lady gave 3 lbs. to the victor, and lost by just a length.

Bred in Kentucky by Chadds Ford Stable, One Smokin Lady was purchased by Gainesway Bloodstock on behalf of owner Cash Is King Stable for $160,000 from the 2007 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. She was the highest priced filly by Smoke Glacken that year. Racing for Cash Is King LLC and trainer Tim Ritchey, she has now run 1-2-3 in 10 of her 11 starts, and boasts on-track earnings of $193,120.

Smoke Glacken has stood his entire career at Gainesway, and is value-priced in 2010 at $12,500 live foal, stands and nurses.
