Zenyatta's owners Jerry and Ann Moss announced Tuesday that an ultrasound showed Zenyatta in foal after being bred to Tapit. Zenyatta, whose first foal was born March 8, was named Horse of the Year in 2010 and Champion Older Mare the previous year.

Tapit, the sire of 2011 juvenile champion Hansen, is currently in the top 10 on the General Sire List with nearly $2.5 million in progeny earnings. Besides Hansen, his nine stakes horses this year include the Japanese Grade 1 winner Testa Matta; Tapitsfly, winner of the Grade 2 Honey Fox S.; Tapizar, winner of the Grade 2 San Fernando S.; and the 4-year-old filly Joyful Victory, who took the Tiffany Lass S. at Fair Grounds and was third in the Grade 3 Azeri S. at Oaklawn Park.
