About Gainesway Sales

An Emphasis On Quality

Selling yearlings, broodmares and weanlings requires good business sense, knowledgeable horsemen, marketing savvy, excellent presentation and experience in the sales ring. When we represent our clients at public auction, we bring with us years of experience and knowledge, as well as a proven track record and a large clientele of International Buyers.

Gainesway excels in the sales ring by offering top product.

Gainesway Sales History

Gainesway excels in the sales ring by offering top product, focusing on select limited numbers and very high quality. We annually consign at Fasig-Tipton July, Saratoga Select, Keeneland September, Keeneland November, and Keeneland January.

For six consecutive years, Gainesway has ranked among the top four consignors by gross sales. In 2014, Gainesway has sold $35.7-million worth of bloodstock, with the highest median among the top five consignors.

A hallmark of Gainesway's sales program is our ability to get our horses sold. Every year since 2006 Gainesway has been a world leader by percentage of horses sold. In 2014, we sold 87% of all horses offered (268 of 308). In 2013, we sold 90.7% (223 of 246); in 2012, 85.7%; and in 2011, 89.9%. These numbers are even more remarkable when one considers that just 70% of all horses offered at public auction sell in the ring.

Our sales team is focused on selling at the Top of the Market. We believe that the placement within a consignment is one of the most crucial decisions made, and we strive to help clients place their Thoroughbreds where they will stand out in the crowd. At the sale we maintain the highest level of horsemanship and presentation as well as a high level of communication with our clients.

If you are looking to sell or purchase a weanling, yearling or broodmare the Gainesway Sales Division is eager to put its record of success to work for you.

Please contact Michael Hernon, Neil Howard or Brian Graves for information about consigning with Gainesway.

Selling Graded Stakes Winners

If you are looking to sell yearlings, weanlings, or mares, you want a consignor with a proven track record of selling stakes winners. For decades, Gainesway has been raising and prepping horses of the highest caliber. In the three-year span 2012-2014, 24 individual Graded stakes winners have come from Gainesway consignmenrs, including Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks contenders, and eight Grade 1 Breeders' Cup contenders.

In 2014, only two consignors have produced more Group/Graded stakes winners than Gainesway Sales. Gainesway consignments have yielded 12 Graded stakes winners, three Grade 1 winners, including Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) contender Daredevil.

Other recent racing stars sold by Gainesway include: Champion Informed Decision (G1), Eclipse Finalists Careless Jewel (G1) and Noble's Promise (G1), Jerry and Anne Moss's Zazu (G1), Donegal's Paddy O'Prado (G1), Fox Hill's Coup de Grace (G2), West Point & St. Elias' Ring Weekend (G2), Zayat Stables' Fast Bullet (G2), and more.
