Boarding
We offer year round boarding services for mares and foals. Gainesway is home to
an excellent broodmare band as well as those mares which are here only during
the breeding season. To produce superior quality athletes, our experienced team,
led by Broodmare Manager Johnny Slugantz, follows a meticulous program. From breeding
a mare, to the moment a foal is born, to the weanling process and beyond, our
emphasis is on personalized care and attention. Our philosophy is to achieve our
clients' goals either to produce a successful sale yearling or to produce a successful
racehorse.
The Land
Located on some of the finest bluegrass land in Kentucky, Gainesway encompasses
over 1,500 prime acres of the former Greentree and Whitney farms, with ample space
on some of the most productive land in Thoroughbred history. Yearly soil samples
are taken to ensure that the land continues to offer the necessary nutrients for
optimal growth and health. This fertile land is second to none in producing top
Thoroughbreds and provides convenient access to Bluegrass airport, Keeneland,
Fasig-Tipton Kentucky and premier veterinary facilities.
Veterinary Care
We are honored that our clients entrust us with the care of their Thoroughbreds
and take the corresponding responsibility seriously. Nutrition consultants are
utilized year round to promote healthy, balanced, individualized feed programs
for each horse and our feed is specially formulated to complement the natural
nutrients offered by our land. Our resident veterinarian, Dr. Tom Little, ensures
that the horses receive prompt first-class medical attention.
Communications
We understand that our clients have a tremendous investment in each of their horses,
which is why we make it a priority to keep our clients updated on the status of
their Thoroughbreds. We have a carefully controlled program of photos and reports
scheduled to provide our clients with the most up-to-date health status and progress
of their horses.
