Stallions
What an amazing kick off to our 2008 breeding season! Just moments after Freshman sire Whywhywhy's stakes winning 2YO colt, Nownownow, prevailed in a "come from behind" performance in the inaugural running of the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf, NEW Gainesway stallion, Corinthian dominated the $1,000,000 Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile over a field of top rivals. It was a tremendously exciting time for the Gainesway team.
It is moments like this that remind me of the intense passion for this sport. Gainesway's passion and commitment for the Thoroughbred industry is evident through the pride we take in our Thoroughbreds, our facilities, the variety of services we offer and the reputation we have developed.
2007 was an exceptional year for Gainesway. Our stallions have had an incredible year both in the sales ring and on the racetrack and the "Gainesway Graduates" have been at the top of their game. Gainesway's commitment to building on our tradition of leadership and stallion management has never been more apparent.
International Sire Mr. Greeley's progeny have had an exceptional year including European Champion Filly Finsceal Beo (winner of the Irish and English 1000 Guineas), multiple G1 winning filly Saoirse Abu and the $2.2 million sale topping colt sold at Saratoga. We welcomed the arrival of dual classic winner Afleet Alex's first crop foals. Strategic Mission, son of Mr. Prospector, is now sire of a champion and 2 Graded Stakes Winners from just 29 foals of racing age including multiple G1 winner Showing Up-G1. Gainesway home-bred Champion, Orientate, is a Leading Freshman and Sophomore Sire with 8 SWs, 3 GSWs including two G1 Winners, Lady Joanne & Lady Sprinter. In 2007, first crop yearlings by Gainesway stallions Birdstone, Cuvee and Tapit had great returns at auction. Mr. Greeley's G1 winning son Whywhywhy has had immediate success on the track with his first crop two-year-olds including Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf winner Nownownow and multiple stakes winner, We're in the Money. Smoke Glacken adds 2007 G1 winner, Irish Smoke to his 8 Graded Stakes Winners.
NEW for the 2008 season, Gainesway will welcome G1 winner, Corinthian, to our stallion roster. This son of Pulpit won the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile and the Met Mile-G1. Our established stallion and Champion Miler Cozzene, winner of the inaugural Breeders' Cup Mile, is passing the baton to our newest stallion classic miler Corinthian, winner of the inaugural Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile by 6 1/2 lengths.
Gainesway was a top 5 yearling consignor in 2006 and continued this in 2007 by ranking in the top 5 consignors by gross sales in each of the major yearling sales. In addition, Gainesway consigned the 2007 Saratoga sale topper, a Mr. Greeley-Win My Heart colt that sold for $2,200,000 to Team Valor International.
At Gainesway, we believe in exceeding expectations. We strive to provide the best equine care possible and to keep in touch with the changing needs and opportunities in the industry. We take great pride in our Thoroughbreds, our dedicated staff, and our world-class facilities. We invite you to visit Gainesway, meet our staff, and learn how we can serve you in your Thoroughbred endeavors.
