| TAPIT made his first start at two a winning one, taking a mile maiden event at Delaware by 7 1/2 lengths on October 19, 2003. He followed that auspicious beginning with a victory in his next start, the G2 Laurel Futurity, where he was a convincing 4 1/2-length winner. TAPIT'S first start at three came in the G1 Florida Derby, finishing a good fourth to FRIEND'S LAKE, VALUE PLUS, and THE CLIFF'S EDGE (subsequent winner of the G1 Toyota Blue Grass S.) The G1 Wood Memorial S. was TAPIT'S next start, and next win, again winning in impressive fashion, defeating MASTER DAVID and EDDINGTON in the 1 1/8-mile test.
